GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Since its establishment, Tunisia Autoroutes has been continuously constructing and operating new highway infrastructures, equipped with over 28 surveillance buildings and 214 toll booths. To jog your memory, here are some of the notable projects:
- The A1 highway from Tunis to Msaken, covering 142 kilometers, with an open toll system (6 stations and toll booths).
- The A4 highway from Tunis to Bizerte, spanning 56 kilometers, with a closed toll system (4 stations and toll booths).
- The A3 highway from Tunis to Oued Zarga, encompassing 67 kilometers, with a closed toll system (6 stations and toll booths).
- The A1 South highway from Msaken to Sfax, covering 94 kilometers, with a closed toll system (6 stations and toll booths).
- The A3 highway from Oued Zarga to Boussalem, spanning 52 kilometers, with a closed toll system (4 toll booths).
- The A1 South highway from Sfax to Gabes, covering 156 kilometers, with a closed toll system (6 stations and toll booths).
COMMISSIONING OF A NEW HIGHWAY
After the construction of any new highway section with all its accessories: guardrails, signage… its operation under a toll system requires a set of additional, quite significant, and essential works:
- Data communication network between toll booths,
- Construction of operational buildings,
- Electrical equipment,
- Metal canopies to shelter operators and toll equipment,
- Layout of islands and installation of protective posts,
- Toll equipment and systems, ensuring interoperability with the old STA system,
- Video surveillance control system.
FIBER OPTICS
To mark the digitization of its toll system, Tunisie Autoroutes has designed a data transmission network, based on fiber-optic cable to ensure very high throughput, equipped with a management and monitoring system for any outages or faults. The high-grade cable used is housed in underground cells on the underside of freeways, accessing all operating buildings for data exchange. Tunisie Autoroutes proposes to lease excess dark-fiber capacity to customers after exploiting their needs.
